Earlier this month I bought some tulips and thought it was nice to use one as a subject for a photograph. So on a rainy sunday morning I collected all the things I needed. The camera, lights, background paper, sheet of glas and other accesories. After a while my dining room was transformed in a small studio.
First thing I did was to make some test shot to get the white balance right. For this I took a photo of a white piece of paper. And told the camera to use it for the custom white balance setting. Then it was time to get the exposure right. This was mostly a matter of trial and error as I don’t own a light meter. I took a shot, looked at the picture and the histogram. Then made the necesary exposure setting changes. And repeated the whole procedure again until I was happy with the exposure.
After a few test shots I found the right exposure I wanted and started to photographing the tulip. Most of photo’s worked out nicely. I am happy with the results although there is room for improvement.
